Step aside, Idris Elba, another name has been added to the potential Bond list.
With news of Daniel Craig’s eventual departure from the franchise, a betting poll has begun over the current prospects for his replacement.
Started by BoyleSports, an online bookmaker based in Ireland, the pool of candidates have had bets placed on them, ranking the likelihood of that male being chosen for the role.
Tom Hardy has recently been added to the mix, moving his rank to the number one spot alongside Superman Henry Cavill, with Elba and Damian Lewis tied behind them.
Liam Goyle, the spokesperson for BoyleSports, commented by saying, “The Next James Bond market has certainly come alive with all the support coming in for Tom Hardy, who is now 4/1 from 6/1 to take over from Daniel Craig….With the support showing no signs of drying up, we are expecting Tom Hardy to be the new favorite for the role sooner rather than later.”
Other contenders include Michael Fassbender, Orlando Bloom, and Dominic West, though it seems that fans aren’t ready to see Craig go, hoping that he’ll stay on for another film despite him seeming quite adamant about leaving in his Esquire interview:
“I have a life and I’ve got to get on with it a bit.”
