Paramount want Martin Scorsese to direct Evel Knievel biopic

Along with William Monahan confirmed to write the script for a biopic of iconic daredevil Evel Knievel, Deadline has reported that Paramount is eyeing director Martian Scorsese to join the project.

The biopic will be adapted from Sheldon Saltman’s Evel Knievel On Tour. Saltman, manager of Evel Knievel, documented Knievel’s failed Snake River jump as well as a darker side to his character. In response to the book, Knievel flew to California to meet Saltman with a baseball bat and broke his arm, resulting in a $12.7 million lawsuit.

Terence Winter, frequent collaborator of Scorses and creator of Boardwalk Empire, has also joined the film as producer.
