Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman is to join Colin Farrell in supernatural thriller The Killing of a Sacred Deer, the next film by director Yorgos Lanthimos.
Lanthimos, who made his English language debut with 2015’s absurdist dystopian comedy The Lobster, has co-written the latest project with Efthymis Filippou.
According to The Hollywood Reporter:
“Farrell is on board as a successful surgeon who attempts to integrate a teenager into his family, but when the teen’s actions grow increasingly sinister, the doctor is forced to make an unthinkable sacrifice. Kidman will play Farrell’s wife.”
Lanthimos came onto the radar with The Lobster, which after receiving positive reviews at Cannes 2015, went on to make $5 million. He is also set to make period drama The Favourite, starring Olivia Colman, Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz.
