With the controversial demise of General Zod in Man of Steel, fans of the franchise were surprised to see his role reprised in the latest Batman v Superman trailer where his corpse is seen being unzipped from a body bag.
While it is unclear what will become of General Zod, Shannon has given some unexpected insight, telling tales from the set that involve him having…flippers?
“I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands. So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the f**k is he?’ and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!’”
Shannon was eventually rescued by staff, but fans of the film are left wondering two words: why flippers?
There are theories circulating the internet regarding Zod’s body falling into the hands of Lex Luthor who then begins experimentation on him, thus creating the super villain Doomsday, but the speculation falls short on the same detail. Michael Shannon is happy to keep us guessing too: “Well, I haven’t seen the trailer either, so I don’t know what I am in the trailer,” he said. “I could be a toaster, or a Porsche, I don’t know.”
With months until the film’s release date, we’re hoping to learn more details about Shannon’s return to set and the future for General Zod.
