Spielberg to make Vietnam War protest film

The story of CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite’s famous stance against the Vietnam War will be dramatized by Steven Spielberg.

Presenter for CBS Evening News from 1962 to 1981, Cronkite covered many of the 20th century’s major events, including the assassination of JFK and the Watergate scandal. Cronkite is best known for his reporting on the Vietnam War and his outspoken stance as a campaigner against the the involvement of the US in the conflict.

Spielberg will work with screenwriter Matt Charman to dramatize Cronkite’s story, who also wrote Spielberg’s last film, Cold War drama Bridge of Spies.
