Apocalypse Now: Behind the Scenes Photos

The Vietnam war epic Apocalypse Now, released in 1979, was filmed over 16 months in grueling conditions in the Philippines. Directed by Francis Ford Coppola, the Oscar winning film is originally based on Joseph Conrad‘s 1899 novel Heart of Darkness.

The documentary Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker’s Apocalypse goes behind the scenes of its production and shows the true price that was paid for what is considered by many to be Coppola’s masterpiece.
